Urban Planning in Canada
The program typically has three areas of study: urban planning: rural, regional planning: and environmental planning.
The first two study the development of various different types of communities, while environmental planning deals with pollution issues, sewage treatment, and the handling of natural disasters, such as floods and earthquakes.
To plan a good community, planners must balance the interests of various parties, such as real estate developers, residents, etc., and also ensure that the community is well-structured, environmentally beautiful, and not overspent financially. Since the planning program involves many areas of knowledge, it is a good choice to choose a minor in a related collar city.
Students will have the opportunity to intern in public planning departments, non-profit organizations, or private companies.
